5250 Express Data Stream

Terminal Emulation Programs

The IBM 5250 Express Adapters require a compatible Terminal Emulation program, supplied by the Customer to provide the intended function. Enhanced Data Stream Support may not be available on all current software offerings. Please check the list below for the latest status on the product you use.



IBM AS/400 Client Access

    Windows 95 Client, v3r1m0 and v3r1m1

    • The IBM 5250 Express PCI Adapter, IBM 5250 Express PC Card, and IBM 5250 Express ISA Adapter are supported.
    • Plug and Play is supported on the IBM 5250 Express ISA Adapter.
    • Support for cascaded interrupts is NOT available in this version.
    • The 5250 Express Data Stream is NOT supported.

    Windows 95 Client, v3r1m2 and v3r1m3

    • The IBM 5250 Express PCI Adapter, IBM 5250 Express PC Card, and IBM 5250 Express ISA Adapter are supported.
    • Plug and Play is fully supported on the IBM 5250 Express ISA Adapter
    • Support for cascaded interrupts IS available in this version.
    • The 5250 Express Data Stream is supported.

    Windows NT 4.0 Workstation, v3r1m2 and v3r1m3

    • The IBM 5250 Express PCI Adapter and IBM 5250 Express PC Card are supported.
    • The IBM 5250 Express ISA Adapter is supported when set in non-plug and play mode.
    • The 5250 Express Data Stream is supported.

    Windows 3.1 Client, XC1 - v3r1m1, XK1 - v3r1m0

    • The IBM 5250 Express PCI Adapter and IBM 5250 Express PC Card are supported.
    • The 5250 Express ISA Adapter is fully supported.
    • The 5250 Express Data Stream is supported.

    Optimized OS/2 Client

    • The IBM 5250 Express PC Card is supported.
    • The IBM 5250 Express ISA Adapter is also supported when set in non-plug and play mode.
    • The 5250 Express Data Stream is NOT supported.
    • The IBM 5250 Express PCI Adapter is NOT supported.



IBM Personal Communications AS/400

    eNetwork Personal Communications AS/400 V4.2 for Windows NT 4.0

    • The 5250 Express functions are fully supported on the IBM 5250 Express ISA Adapter, IBM 5250 Express PCI Adapter, and IBM 5250 Express PC Card.
    • The 5250 Express functions include the 5250 Express Data Stream.
    • Plug and Play support is not available

    eNetwork Personal Communications AS/400 V4.2 for Windows 95

    • The 5250 Express functions are fully supported on the IBM 5250 Express ISA Adapter, IBM 5250 Express PCI Adapter, and IBM 5250 Express PC Card.
    • The 5250 Express functions include the 5250 Express Data Stream and Plug and Play.

    Personal Communications Version 4.1 for Windows NT 4.0

    • The IBM 5250 Express PCI Adapter and IBM 5250 Express PC Card are supported.
    • The 5250 Express ISA Adapter is supported when set in non-Plug and Play mode.
    • The 5250 Express Data Stream is not supported on the 5250 Express adapters.

    Personal Communications Version 4.1 for Windows 95

    • The IBM 5250 Express PCI Adapter and IBM 5250 Express PC Card are supported.
    • The 5250 Express ISA Adapter is fully supported.
    • The 5250 Express Data Stream is not supported on the 5250 Express adapters.

    Personal Communications Version 4.1 for Windows 3.1

    • The 5250 Express functions are fully supported on the IBM 5250 Express ISA Adapter, IBM 5250 Express PCI Adapter, and IBM 5250 Express PC Card. The IBM 5250 Express functions include the 5250 Express Data Stream and Plug and Play.

    Personal Communications Version 4.1 for OS/2

    • The IBM 5250 Express PC Card is supported.
    • The IBM 5250 Express ISA Adapter is supported when set in non-Plug and Play mode.
    • The IBM 5250 Express PCI Adapter is not supported.
    • The 5250 Express Data Stream is not supported on the 5250 Express Adapters.



IBM 5250 Express Program Version 4.0

    IBM 5250 Express Program for DOS Version 4.0

    • The 5250 Express functions are fully supported on the IBM 5250 Express ISA Adapter, IBM 5250 Express PCI Adapter, and the IBM 5250 Express PC Card. The 5250 Express functions include the 5250 Express Data Stream, Plug and Play, and access to seven physical sessions without requiring a router.
    • Adapter handler and Customer setup instructions are shipped with each adapter.

IBM 5250 Emulation for Windows 1.1r5

    IBM 5250 for Windows 3.1 Version 1.1r5

    • The IBM 5250 Express PC Card is supported.
    • The IBM 5250 Express ISA Adapter is supported when set in non-Plug and Play mode.
    • The IBM 5250 Express PCI Adapter is not supported.
    • The 5250 Express Data Stream is not supported on 5250 Express Adapters.



IBM 5250 Enhanced Link Program Version 3.0

    IBM 5250 Enhanced Link for DOS Version 3.0

    • The IBM 5250 Express PCI Adapter and IBM 5250 Express PC Card are supported.
    • Plug and Play is fully supported on the IBM 5250 Express ISA Adapter
    • Adapter handler and Customer setup instructions are shipped with each adapter for DOS operating environments.
    • The 5250 Express Data Stream is not supported on the 5250 Express Adapters.



IBM Japan 5250WS Version 4.2

    IBM 5250WS, Japanese Version 4.2

    • The IBM 5250 Express PC Card is supported.
    • The IBM 5250 Express ISA Adapter is supported when set in non-Plug and Play mode.
    • The IBM 5250 Express PCI Adapter is not supported.
    • The 5250 Express Data Stream is not supported on the 5250 Express Adapters.



Microsoft SNA Server for Windows NT Version 2.02

    Microsoft SNA Server Version 2.02

    • The IBM 5250 Express ISA Adapter is supported when set in non-Plug and Play mode.
    • The IBM 5250 Express PC Card is not supported.
    • The IBM 5250 Express PCI Adapter is not supported.
    • The 5250 Express Data Stream is not supported on the 5250 Express Adapters.
    • The Twinax driver is loaded as a Service under Windows NT and is supplied by the program vendor.
