Communications Controller for Linux (CCL) and 3745 Communications Controller
The software product, Communications Controller for Linux (CCL), for zSeries servers, emulates the IBM 3745 Communication Controller hardware. ACF/NCP will operate in this CCL environment. Refer to Software Announcement, 205-030, for details. CCL information is also available in the Sales Manual section, 5724-J38.
For customers using CCL, a separate ACF/NCP license for each image of CCL is required. In addition, an ACF/SSP must be available for configuring and downloading any NCP used in the CCL environment.
For new ACF/NCP licenses:
- Order ACF/NCP V7R8.1 - PID number 5648-063
- Specify Usage Tier 2 (features 2800 and 2801 for basic license or 2808 and 2809 for DSLO license)
For existing ACF/NCP customers, ACF/NCP V7R5 and later is supported in the CCL environment. To use existing NCP media, you may need to contact your IBM representative to have your license updated to the host serial number, or, if your usage tier needs to be adjusted to the required usage tier 2.
If NCP function is migrated to CCL, a separate NCP license is still required for the 3745 if it remains in production. NCP usage tier may be adjusted if the 3745 is reconfigured.
CCL usage effects no other changes to ACF/NCP licensing or ordering conditions..
